Illustration, Amplification and Disjuntion

Illustration-Copying something and adapting it slightly

Amplification- Copying something and amplifying it to make it different

Disjunction- Doing whatever you want

Amplification/Illustration

One music promo that uses amplification is Alesana - The Thespian (post-hardcore/metal) . This is because the song is based on a chapter from a book, but they amplified this and turned it into a song. This means they also changed it, for example, they changed some of the mise-en-scene of the story from a town into a house. This means they are not directly copying it, and amplifying the story in the book. However, you cold argue that this is in fact illustration as it is copying another media text. This means it could be either Illustration or Amplification

Disjuntion

One video that uses disjunction is Blessthefall- ThePromised Ones (metalcore/screamo) . This is completely doing whatever they want to, such as the definition of disjunction. They have not copied anyone (used illustration) or amplified anyone’s work. This is seen all throughout the video as they have not copied any references that are noticeable or copied anyone directly. Mise-en-scene is also very unique as well as everything else in this promo, however, you could say the camera shots and angles have been copied, but this is because the long shots and mid shots used are conventional of music promos.
